uncalled for

My boss fired one of my coworkers on Friday....for using a work computer for personal use. Every single one of his employees, myself & his kids included, has used the back office computer for personal use. It's a lame reason to fire someone. If that's the grounds for firing people now then he had better be prepared to fire all of his employees. I'm so pissed about it. The guy he fired was one of his best employees too. He had worked there for almost 2 years. I have never been so mad at a boss before. Nor have I ever lost respect for a boss as quickly as he just lost mine. I have no intentions of speaking to him unless it is directly related to work. I will still be kind and professional to our customers, they have done nothing wrong. My boss on the other hand, wow.


It was also brought to my attention yesterday that after one week of working, my boss gave one of the newer guys a raise. Now I'm not holding it against my coworker. He has a lot of experience and he knows what he's doing. However, I have worked at this job for over 2 years now and not once have I received a raise. From my standpoint, it makes me think I'm not a valuable employee to him. Which I believe I am. I have called in TWICE in the 2 years I have worked for him, I have always been flexible with my schedule, if they ever needed extra help I've always been willing to come in. I'm not saying I'm the best employee ever. I'm human, I know I've made mistakes. But who hasn't?! He can't expect us all to be perfect. We're not. Neither is he.


I don't think I can stand working for someone who does not treat his employees fair. His kids get away with everything. They can just call in and say "I'm not coming in today" and it's fine. If any of the rest of us tried that there is no way they would just let it slide. It's wrong, what he did, whether he believes it or not. It is. Flat out wrong and I never expected it from him.


He has been in such a fowl mood lately. And none of us even saw this all coming. He starts snapping at people for no apparent reason. He'll even get mad at us in front of customers. Seeing as how he always tells us to be professional I'm thinking he should follow his own words. If there is a problem with something wouldn't most people talk about it in private? I always thought so but it's not been that way lately at my work place. It's ridiculous.


So I am currently trying to find another job. At this point I'd take almost anything. I'm really hoping I can find one. It's going to be tough though. I need it to be full time & I need to get paid at least $8.50/hr in order to pay my bills. Plus I don't want to leave one crap job for another. I'm hoping I can find something that I will like. Hopefully something photography related. But we'll see. Like I said, I'll take almost anything right now.
